WHAT: The most vigorous and productive Training Sessions in Ranger History has begun. The Northshore Ranger Select girls will need to bring/wear the following items to each practice: Water, a size five ball (labeled with name), practice jersey if you have one (for warmer weather, t-shirts are great... avoid string-type shoulders), proper-fitting shin guards, a sweatshirt or Ranger warm-ups if you have ‘em. Having all of your loose items in a Ranger bag with a large plastic garbage bag for rainy days is preferred.

This year we are going to be very serious about the time that we have at practice. You should come fully-prepared to learn (listen) and work at the correct pace (gradually building to game speed). You are obviously serious about soccer, and practice is serious soccer, so make the most of your time. Please remember, your Coaches are volunteers, and we expect all players to be respectful toward others and to participate at a select level. Additional work may be assigned to keep pace with team progress or improve particular skills. A summer-long, fitness log will be assigned to each player which will include a competitive ‘soccer-related’ fitness calendar.

Throughout the summer training you will be assigned a rotating, training partner, this is intended to make moving from activity to activity quicker, and to develop team bonding. We will focus on ONE topic at every particular practice session. Our process will follow the USSF recognized, small group training methodology as follows:

  1. Warm-up, stretch and fitness training
  2. i. water

  3. Introduction of topic/basic execution- either a technical skill or technique for 1 to 2 players (w/coaching points).
  4. Match Situation Activity- using the skill/technique in a 1 v 2, 2 v 2, or 3 v 3 activity (coaching pts.)

    ii. water

  5. Match Condition Activity- using the skill/technique in a 3 v 4, or 4 v 4 activities (coaching pts.)
  6. Match Activity- 8 v 8/9 (with keeper), incorporating skill/technique; or scrimmage with Chargers or other team with stoppages for coaching points.
  7. iii. water

  8. Cool-down Ranger run with stretching.

*Note: this progression introduces the tactical element in steps 3 thru 5. Water breaks are estimated only.

WHEN: Training Sessions will run continuously on our assigned days. Our current assigned time is to be announced We may also include some additional ‘unofficial’ training, which is not officially require, but is strongly encouraged. Practice times and locations are subject to change as a result of availability.

WHERE: To be announced

PARENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND; I WILL GLADLY SPEAK WITH ANYONE IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING PRACTICE REGARDING ANY SOCCER TOPIC.

ISSUES: If you are going to miss practice please let me know in advance. This helps to organize the training activity in advance. Remember that we are very successful adhering to the NSC guideline: 80% practice = 40% playing time.
